The Sisters of Notre Dame send their prayerful good wishes to all of you from St. Martha's Parish.
We were assigned by the Mission Office at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to visit with your parish this summer, but the pandemic has postponed that until 2021. We do want to update you, though, on some of our current highlights. We have been blessed to have Sr. Colette Theobald, currently assigned to St. Jule's Mission in Buseesa, Uganda, visiting with us for an extended stay because of pandemic travel restrictions.
As you can imagine, partner schools and organizations have been unable to fulfill their typical commitments to our Uganda Mission due to cancelled fundraisers and Lenten drives. The generosity of these groups provide food, housing, educational opportunities and much more for 600 students, staff, and SNDs at St. Julie's Mission. Last spring, we also launched a campaign to fully fund a deep water well, pump, piping system and tap. Thanks to many generous donors (from across the country), we have reached 72% of our $100,000 goal.
In these days of the coronavirus pandemic, we all recognize how important clean water is for personal hygiene. Please partner with us by sharing the video with family, friends, and others who may want to bring clean water to the 22,000 in the village of Buseesa.
Thank you and for further information, please contact Sr. Lisa Megaffin at lmegaffin@sndca.org or at 805-402-8623. We look forward to seeing you next summer.
